Administrative History

The Department of Linguistics and English Language (est. 2002) is an instructional unit at Brigham Young University.

The department was organized as the Department of Linguistics and English Language in 2002 as part of a reorganization of the College of Humanities. The department is responsible for teaching linguistics, English language, editing, English as a Second Language, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and American Sign Language. The department also assists in managing the English Language Center program.
