Administrative History

The General Reference Department (approximately 1988-2002) was an administrative unit at Brigham Young University.

The General Reference Department was established prior to 1988 as part of the General Services Division. In September 1988 the unit was moved to the Collection Development Division to better coordinate with the subject reference desks. Then in fall 2002 the department was merged with Library Instruction to form the General Services Department.
