Administrative History
The L. Tom Perry Special Collections (2000- ) is a special collections library and manuscripts/archival repository.
The L. Tom Perry Special Collections was named in May 2000, and was previously known as the Department of Special Collections; Manuscripts. It is located in the Harold B. Lee Library on the campus of Brigham Young University. Aline and L. Sam Skaggs, through their ALSAM Foundation, made a generous financial donation to the new library and requested that the Special Collections be named after L. Tom Perry, an apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The department is responsible for collecting, preserving, and making available rare books, historical manuscripts, and university records. Department chairs have included Scott Duvall (1999-2002), P. Bradford Westwood (2002-2009), Russ Taylor (2009-2014), J. Gordon Daines III (2014-2020), Thomas R. Wells, (2020-2021), and Dainan Skeem (2021- ).

A. Dean Larsen Book Collecting Conference records
Contains materials from the Gentle Madness of Book Collecting Conference held in the L. Tom Perry Special Collections, later renamed the A. Dean Larsen Book Collecting Conference. Materials include name badges, conference programs, and various handouts and materials related to the sessions. Dated 2003-2019.
Archives and Manuscripts policies and procedures manual
Manual of the policies and procedures of the Department of Archives and Manuscripts of the Harold B. Lee Library. It discusses the purpose of the department and the fundamental archival principles used in the work of the department. It also contains photocopies of pictures of the department staff, approximately 1980.
Collection of manuscript processing manuals
Policy and procedure manuals describing the processing of manuscript materials in the L. Tom Perry Special Collections department. Includes checklists, donation contract forms, collection development plans, travel guidelines, and other materials. Materials date from 1997 to 2013.
Collection of newspaper clippings about Brigham Young University's NIT championship basketball teams
Contains material related to Brigham Young University's NIT Championship basketball teams. The clippings relate primarily to the 1951 NIT Championship team and their coach. The clippings follow the team's 1951 regular season and their performance in the 1950s Skyline Conference. A few of the clippings relate to BYU's NIT Championship win in 1966. Dates range from 1951 to 1966.
Collection of unpublished films
Approximately ten titles of home movies, event proceedings, and other professional or semi-professional yet still unpublished films. VHS and DVD. Original films creation dates range from approximately 1915 to 2005.
Collection on the King James Bible exhibit
Contains materials related to the King James Bible exhibit including a recording of a House of Learning Lecture by Richard Duerden, a brochure advertisting the BYUtv production Fires of Faith, and a gallery guide to the exhibit.

Contains files documenting the endowments of the L. Tom Perry Special Collections. Materials date from 2003 to 2004.
L. Tom Perry Special Collections exhibit prints
Contains oversized prints from the collections of the L. Tom Perry Special Collections that were used in exhibits. All photographs in the collection were produced from negatives in the respective collections of each photographer. Materials dated approximately 1860-1930.
