Scope and Contents Collection consists of scrapbooks from the Lavell Edwards Era (1971-2000). Lavell Edwards was head coach of the team from 1972-2000 and had a record of 257-101-3. He is the sixth winningest coach in college football history. He coached the team to a 13-0 record in 1984 and the Cougars won their only National Championship that year. Scope and Contents Contains photographs and news clippings relating to Brigham Young University Intercollegiate Athletics. Photographs mainly consist of black and white football photographs, as well as three hand-colored images, two of which are in the oversize box. Also included are two gymnastics programs from 1980-1981. Numerous folders and scrapbooks contain news clippings pertaining to BYU athletics, circa 1920s-1981.
