Typewritten biography of Bessie Rachel Weeter by an unknown author. Weeter graduated from the LDS Hospital School of Nursing in Salt Lake City, Utah. She served in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps for 31 years and retired in 1976. She died in 1999.

Abstract This collection contains the military certificates of Major General Briant Harris Wells. Included are the certificates that span his military career from his first rank as second lieutenant in 1894 to major general in 1928. There are also certificates for awards he was given, including a Silver Star certificate for action in the Spanish American War, 1898; a Distinguished Service Medal certificate for service in World War I; and the "Ordre National de la Legion D'Honneur" from the French...

Daniel H. Wells papers

Scope and Contents Two photocopies of original handwritten letters written by Daniel H. Wells. Typed transcripts of both letters are also included. The first letter was written on September 26, 1848, from Salt Lake City by Daniel Wells to "dear brother." He discusses sending his two yoke of oxen to a camp in addition to assistance from others. The second letter was written on April 26th, 1852, and is titled "Special Order No. 1" and is signed by Lieutenant General D. H. Wells, James Ferguson, Adjutant General....

Ronald Westhorpe interview

Scope and Contents Transcript of an interview conducted by Eric Rayner probably in 1985 for the Ray Hillam war project. Westhorpe lived in London, England, in 1939 at the beginning of the war. During World War II, he was a flight "leftenant" for the Royal Air Force. He flew with the bomber command pathfinder force, and he identified and marked targets for the bombers that would follow. John Wheeler letter

Frank Whitaker interview with Albert E. Haines

Scope and Contents

Typescript of an interview conducted by Frank Whitaker on 29 Jan. 1985 for Hillam's War Project at Brigham Young University. Haines talks about his training in the United States Army, his deployment to combat in October 1944 as a platoon leader, and his participation in the battles of the Hurtgen Forest and the Bulge. He was severely wounded by machine gun fire on 13 Jan. 1945.

Lincoln R. Whitaker interview

Scope and Contents

Typescript of an interview taken from the included sound tapes. The interview was conducted by Frank Whitaker on 3 March 1985 for Ray Hillam's War Project. Lincoln Whitaker was from Ogden, Utah, and was drafted into the United States Army in January 1944. He landed in Normandy, France, about 25 days after D-Day. He first saw action in Gilenchirchen, Germany, and describes his many combat experiences.
