Albert E. Haines correspondence
Handwritten correspondence between Albert Haines and his wife, Thelda Gwilliam Haines. Most of these items were written while Albert was serving with the United States Army at various posts in the United States and Germany. The collection provides excellent documentation for the lives of private persons during the turbulent war era.
Frank Whitaker interview with Albert E. Haines
Typescript of an interview conducted by Frank Whitaker on 29 Jan. 1985 for Hillam's War Project at Brigham Young University. Haines talks about his training in the United States Army, his deployment to combat in October 1944 as a platoon leader, and his participation in the battles of the Hurtgen Forest and the Bulge. He was severely wounded by machine gun fire on 13 Jan. 1945.
