Photocopies and microfilmed copies of letters, pamphlets, newspaper articles, sections of books, maps, biographies, histories, and miscellaneous items. The materials relate to a large range of topics in the early history of the Mormon Church, to its early leaders and presidents, and to the genealogies of early prominent members of that faith. The materials were acquired in various research institutions in Massachusetts.

Photocopies of handwritten court proceedings of cases tried in Daviess County and Boone County, Missouri. The trials relate to Joseph Smith (1805-1844), the first president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and others being tried for treason; the trial of Parley P. Pratt (1807-1857), an apostle of the Church, for murder; testimony against Caleb Baldwin; and testimony against King Follet on charges of robbery. Dated 1839.

Contains prints of Harold B. Lee, family members, various other individuals, and progress of the Welfare program of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that was established by Harold B. Lee. Also includes negatives.

Handwritten letters, deeds, histories, newspaper clippings, and an autograph album. Family papers include an autograph album owned by Noble's wife, Mary Beeman Bates, which includes a prophecy by Wilford Woodruff about the end of the world. Also included are property deeds on a lot in Nauvoo, Illinois, and a bishop's court document from 1848 in Salt Lake City, Utah, which involves a dispute over foodsuffs in payment for services.

Typewritten book draft. Little compiled numerous sources including correspondence and newspaper articles by and about the second president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brigham Young (1801-1877). The materials cover Young's career as an LDS Church leader until his death and are often interspersed with brief narratives by Little. The items also document LDS Church history. The date of this compilation is uncertain.

Scope and Contents Genealogy sheets, correspondence, a scrapbook, notebooks, photograph album, and memorabilia. The scrapbook was given to Smith by LDS Church leaders on his birthday in 1940 and include birthday cards from these persons. Many of the materials relate to family genealogy and Brigham Young Academy. Some of the materials deal with George Albert Smith (1817-1875), Wilford Woodruff (1807-1898), Elias Smith (1769-1846), Emma Hale Smith (1804-1879), and other prominent Mormons. Also included is...

Scope and Contents Photocopies of typewritten transcripts of a handwritten journal. The items were originally kept in Pitman shorthand. The entries are extensive and detailed. Whitaker was raised in Centerville, Utah but lived much of his adult life in Salt Lake City, Utah. Whitaker details his life and activities and makes observations on Utah society, the Mormon Church, and state and national politics.
