Includes research materials collected by Donald Q. Cannon that relate to the city of Nauvoo, Illinois. Nauvoo was founded in 1839 in the area previously known as Commerce, Illinois, by members of the Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-day Saints. The city served as the center of the Church until 1846, when the main body of Church members left the city due to hostility from the locals.
