Adkins was interviewed by Travis Jordan on June 1, 1937 as part of a Federal Writer's Project assignment for the Works Progress Administration. The item includes handwritten corrections. Adkins says that she was 8 years old in 1865 when the Yankees arrived. She tells about Union soldiers trying to steal from her master's farm.
