Scope and Contents This folder includes typescripts of a series of letters and other writings related to Bateman's different ventures from 1869 to 1886. Much of the correspondence is with Bateman's wife, Marinda Allen Bateman, documenting the hardships of this period of their life. The first letters document his call to settle southern Utah, eventually ending up in Long Valley, near present day Orderville. Bateman was asked to go without his family, leaving his wife and sons to tend their farm in West Jordan....
