John writes about his military activities, relates various rumors, talks about how the Union plundered areas, and mentions the battle of Corinth, Mississippi. Some of the letters was written by Franklin Reid, who related that Morrison died of wounds sustained at the "Battle of the Hatchie" in Tennessee.
