Manuscript of book prior to publication. Presents the struggle of Utah for statehood, including all aspects and conditions relative to the practice of plural marriage and the issue of the "Woodruff Manifesto".
Galley proofs and pasted proofs with handwritten corrections of two novels by Merritt. "The Black Wheel" was completed by Hannes Bok (1914-1964), an American author and illustrator, after the death of Merritt. The book was published in 1948. Also included are proofs of "The Fox Woman" by Merritt, which was published in 1946.
Contains correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings, audiotapes, and related ephemera produced by the Browns. The materials document research and publishing activities between 1967 and 1997.
