Glenn collected stories of creative date invitations and answers, and creative dating experiences. Included are stories of a girl sending her date a pizza with her invitation in the box, a boy asking a girl on a date with flour and a flower, and a girl writing a note like a little child asking if a boy could come and play. The project was written for Dr. Eliason's English 391 class taught at Brigham Young University in 1998.

Gardner analyzes first impressions of married couples, a dating couple, and roommates in order to gain a better understanding of the role first impressions play in defining a future relationship. Gardner contends that first impressions may affect the timing of a relationship and the speed at which it moves.
