Sam Riker letter to Brigham Young
Handwritten and signed letter, dated May 5, 1870, written in Amelia, Ohio, and addressed to Brigham Young, second president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Riker offers to sell Young a formula for $10,000 in gold for the making of an inexpesive explosive.
William Wollerton Riter letters
Handwritten and signed letters. Also included is an "Estimate of cost of Construction of one mile of narrow gauge railroad." Riter writes to the second president of the Mormon Church, Brigham Young, concerning the value of the coal reserves in Summit County, Utah, and the expenses of building a railroad in the area.
Bernardino Rivadavia letter
Handwritten and signed letter. The item was addressed to a chief engineer in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Rivadavia gives the engineer permission to close a contract. Also included is a typed and signed letter from Spencer W. Kimball describing Rivadavia as "one of the most honest and finest builders of Argentina."

Handwritten account of "rules of behavior." This item (2 pages) was likely written by Joseph Smith III, son of Joseph Smith, the founder and Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It was created in January 1845, about seven months after Joseph Smith, Jr. was killed. The rules are believed to be based on George Washington's "Rule of Civility."
