Biographical sketch of Stephen Shelley
Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten biography. Shelley was born in England in 1849. His family were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and they migrated to Utah in 1852. He married Sarah Clegg in 1870, had 5 children, served as a water master, and died in 1921.

William Boyer Shelley was born in 1819 in England, married Jane Dunn in 1845, and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1849. He migrated to the United States in 1851 and came to Utah in 1852 where he settled in American Fork. He died in 1868.
William T. Sherman letter
The William T. Sherman letter is addressed to Francis Amasa Walker and is dated August 20, 1874. At the time of the writing, Sherman was the Commander-in-Chief of the US Army. Sherman expresses his views on the topic of a book, and adds comments on the Mormon problem-suggesting that both Mormons and Indians must be assimilated into American society to survive the consequences of the westward movement.

She joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and migrated to Utah in 1856 with the handcart companies. She later settled in American Fork, had a large family, and died in 1901.

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten biography. David Grant was born in Scotland in 1816, migrated to the United States, and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1840. Grant lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, and moved to Utah in 1847. He later returned to England as a missionary for the Mormon Church. He died in 1868.

The sketch also includes journal excerpts from 1835-1847 which detail his Latter-day Saint Church missions to Ohio, the 1847 trek across the Plains and early Utah life. Also includes a typescript of notes from a sketch by S.C. Richardson about Jackman.
