Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typescript. The item is an autobiography of Lemuel Hardison Redd. "The above sketch of my life was written by my daughters, under my directions. In Lund White Pine County, Nevada. September 1907." Redd was born in North Carolina in 1836. He moved with his family to Salt Lake Valley when he was fourteen years old. Photocopy of a handwritten diary. Reed writes about his journey to the gold fields in California in 1850 and his return to Illinois the following year. He returned by way of ship to Panama and also by ship to New York City. The account is detailed and includes financial records.
