Scope and Contents Photocopy of a handwritten presidential pardon signed by Benjamin Harrison. William Maughn, a Mormon polygamist, had been convicted of adultery and sentenced to two and a half years in prison. His case was reviewed, and the conviction was changed to unlawful cohabitation which carried a prison term of six months. Since Maughn had already served that amount of time, Harrison ordered him released.
