Materials include letters from Orson F. Whitney to his parents, Horace K. Whitney and Helen Mar Kimball Whitney. Orson wrote many of them while serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Europe. The letters contain information about his health, mission, travels, and personal spiritual experiences. Dated June 29, 1873-July 15, 1877.

Scope and Contents

Correspondence, diaries, financial ledgers, newsletters, an autobiography, greeting cards, and a scrapbook. The diaries relate to Ottley's missions for the Church in New Zealand and Great Britain and to his service as mission president also in New Zealand starting in 1951. The correspondence is between family members. The photographs in the scrapbook were taken during his mission presidency in the 1950s.

Scope and Contents These materials were organized by Dewey Owens for a biography he wrote on Carlos Salzedo, the world renowned harpist who lived from 1885 to 1961. The collection includes correspondence, newspaper clippings, programs, and articles. There are also materials concerning Lucile Lawerence, but not all of her materials are associated with Carlos Salzedo directly. Owens' research also includes magazines, articles, newspaper clippings, photographs, Masters theses, and a list of Salzedo's students....

Handwritten letter dated 5 Nov. 1869 and addressed to "Miss Alvira Coolidge" of Manit, Utah. Pace writes from Provo, Utah saying that as an "old man" he had been "smitten" by her. He states that he has an interest in her friendship.

De Herrera dated December 4, 1848, with Herrera's reply, countersigned by Luis G. Cuevas dated February 12, 1849. In his item of November 27, Pius IX protests against the sacrilege practised on himself, declares all actions forced on him null and void, and appoints a commission to conduct the government of Gaeta, Italy in his absence. Little compiled numerous sources including correspondence and newspaper articles by and about the second president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Brigham Young (1801-1877). The materials cover Young's career as an LDS Church leader until his death and are often interspersed with brief narratives by Little. The items also document LDS Church history. The date of this compilation is uncertain.

Collection includes an original signed letter and photocopies. The letter was written 14 March 1944, and addressed to Mr. Shelby Holladay of Salt Lake City, Utah. Letter is neatly signed on Parrish's letterhead and postmarked Windsor, Vermont. Parrish briefly describes work that he has done since 1898 and offers suggestions as to how Holladay may acquire reproductions of his work.
