Collection contains transcribed interviews of 93 different people conducted by the Voices of Remembrance Foundation at Dixie State College, bound in seven volumes. The interviews occurred between 1968 to 1980, and the transcriptions produced through grant funding by the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies.

Scope and Contents

Transcript of an interview conducted by Kelly J. Drake on 6 Aug. 1985 for the Ray Hillam military history project. Drake was in the United States Marine Corps starting in 1936 and later went into the United States Army in 1940. He served in North Africa for nine months and served in Sicily in 1943 with the ordinance section of the Seventh Army. He was later deployed to Germany in 1945 and met Russian troops on the Elbe River. Drake was sent home in July of 1945.

During World War II, he was a flight "leftenant" for the Royal Air Force. He flew with the bomber command pathfinder force, and he identified and marked targets for the bombers that would follow.
