Carlos Ashby Badger papers

Photocopies of diaries, correspondence, and scrapbooks. The correspondence is largely between Carlos Badger and his wife Rose Jenkins Badger. Most of the diaries were kept while Badger served as personal secretary to the United States Senator from Utah, Reed Smoot. The materials deal with the congressional hearings dealing with Smoot, mormon polygamy, Mormon temple endowments, and the politics of both Utah and the United States

Scope and Contents This collection contains one small black photo album. The album was made by John F. Bennett for Mr. and Mrs. George Albert Smith in the 1930s. It is similar to other albums put together by Bennett but is uniquely arranged with the Smiths in mind. Bennett used images created by several notable pioneer photographers such as William H. Abraham H. Cannon notebooks

Scope and Contents This notebook contains quotes, written in the hand of Abraham H. Cannon and another unidentified writer. The front cover shows the inscription: "Geo. Q. Cannon, Gt. Salt Lake City, Utah Ter., Feb. 8/66." All subsequent writing appears to be written by Abraham H. Cannon. The second to last page reveals new handwriting and records the date as 3 August 1916. Located in the back cover is a certificate of birth for Willard Leslie Cannon, signed by Joseph Fielding Smith, Historian of the Church...
