Collection on records, 1980, 1997
Contains items collected by Brigham Young University folklore students as examples of records being used as material lore. Items were collected by students in folklore classes at Brigham Young University and Utah State University from 1980 and 1997. Most of the items are typewritten, but a few of the older items are handwritten. Many of the items contain a description of how, when, and where they were collected as well as explanations of social and cultural contexts.
Early membership records / Gae Vivian Warner, 1980 March 7
Report by Brigham Young University folklore student Gae Vivian Werner, who collected information from Alfred Moyle Okelberry. Alfred's father received a certificate of baptism when he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Sweden in 1861. English text of the certificate given; whether transcribed or translated, and by whom, is unclear.
Family register / Marc E. Shaw, 1997 June 26
Report by Brigham Young University folklore student Marc E. Shaw, who collected information from his sister, Jennifer Belliston. Jennifer made their mother a family register in needlepoint, with the names of family members under their month of birth.

Report by Brigham Young University folklore student Sky Lovingier, who collected information from a family friend, Stan Crippen. Mormon refrigerators accumulate copious magnets holding family memorabilia.

Contains eight VHS tapes on religious and personal/family topics (history of a particular print shop, address by Neal A. Maxwell and an unidentified source, family historical/biographical sketches and reunion records), with one random cassette tape from the Investor's Hotline). Materials dated approximately 1980-2003.
