Administrative history

The Shipler Commercial Photographers was a photographic company in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was started by James William Shipler (1849-1937) when he moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1890. His son Herry Shipler (1878-1961) merged his studio and his father's in 1909.

Scope and Contents Materials include manuscripts of J. E. Broaddus's short stories. Some are works of fiction while others take the form of essays. In addition, some are written under the name of J. E. Broaddus, while others are written under his pen name, Will Hail. The short stories "Trail of Glory" and "Glory Trail" are early versions of the beginning of the longer work "Intolerance."
