Scope and Contents

Collection consists of papers relating to the dictionary Ermel J. Morton, a Mormon missionary who went to Tonga, created from English to Tongan and Tongan to English, his accounts of his mission and translating the Book of Mormon, a history of his wife, a catalog of his materials from home, a typed copy of the talks at his funeral and a Tongan grammar book. There is also a book written about the time the family spent in Tonga.

Collection contains photographs, correspondence, slides, film reels, and journals related to Verlyn Dale Frost and his mission to the Tongan Islands. A particular emphasis is placed on his work at the Liahona School. The materials are dated 1954-2010.

Scope and Contents Contains diaries and photographs, including twenty stereographs, documenting Jones's experience as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Samoa and Tonga from 1893 to 1896. The diaries detail his daily activities and talk about the nature of his work. Jones continued to write in these diaries after his return to Provo, Utah until 1902. The collections also contains a handwritten Tongan-English dictionary copied by Jones and a 1895 article on Tongan cannibalism...

Collection contains slides (photographic) and a Tongan mission scrapbook, 1955-1959, including photographs, correspondence, newspaper clippings, Church programs, invitations, and related ephemera. The slides include nineteen color images of Tonga, Tongan people, missionaries, and Stone family members.

Letters from Frost to his parents, sister, and future wife, Mr. and Mrs. John Frost, Emma Lou Frost, and Carol Jean Gibson. The letters cover the entirety of his mission, and describe his experiences as a missionary, teacher, and district president in Tonga. Dated 1955-1958.
