Emily Lydia Snyder Thompson writes about her immigration to Utah in 1848, her father taking the family to California in 1850, her father starting a boarding house, a flood, being threatened by Indians, food shortages, following Brigham Young's counsel and abandoning her home in 1858, her husband's call to go to Sanpete in 1866, the Black Hawk War and other topics.

Letter from Israel Thompson to Isaac Hite in Kentucky. The letter is concerning the attacks by Native Americans in the area around Loudoun County, Virginia, where Thompson resided at the time. It also includes a discussion regarding the role of local government in protecting the citizens from the "angry natives." Dated August 19, 1783.

Also included is a typewritten rough draft of "Division Commander: Study of a leader, 'P' Wood and the 4th Armored Division," and newsletters (1973-1974) describing the history of the division during World War II.

Handwritten and signed petition on parchment. The item requests that the President of the United States appoint S. M. Strickler as a member of the "Board of Commissioners" for the Territory of Utah. The document was signed by fifty-one residents of Leadville, Colorado.
