The biographical account discusses the Springer family in Europe and North America, stating that the actions of the Orphans Court as stated in the will are dated June 9, 1669, three weeks after Christopher's death. Originally published by the American Historical Society in the 1920s.

Handwritten and signed letter written from San Francisco on April 12, 1862 and addressed to Edwin M. Stanton (1814-1869), Secretary of War for the United States. Stanford is concerned for the defense of California in the Civil War. He requests that federal arms be turned over to the California militia to make a more effective force. He also describes the condition of the defenses of California.

Handwritten letter on blue paper from Steptoe to Sydney Webster, personal secretary of President Franklin Pierce, written on the day Steptoe discovered his appointment as Governor of Utah Territory by President Pierce. In the letter, he enumerates his reservations about the job, praises Governor Brigham Young, expresses doubt about the efficacy of limiting polygamy, and comments generally on the political climate in Salt Lake City. Dated February 7, 1855.
