Scope and Contents Autograph clipped from a letter. A piece of paper is glued to the item. It states, "Peter Borthwick Esqre. of Claverton Park, in Somersetshire was defeated in 1832, by Sir Charles Cockerell and Thomas Hudson Esq. but returned in 1835, without a contest. The hon. gentleman, who was born in Midlothian (?), in 1804, is hostile to the Whig ministry, and had distinguished himself by his advocacy of a gradual Slave Emancipation."
