Elizabeth Truman Partridge papers

Handwritten and signed letter in Spanish dated September 1, 1576. The item is addressed to the Spanish Parliament in Madrid, Spain. Philip appoints John of Austria as governor and military commander in the Netherlands and Burgundy.

Handwritten transcripts of royal letters and certificates signed by Philip III and legalized by his secretaries. They consist largely of official orders concerning the military. Topics include execution orders for prisoners, rules and regulations for soldiers, the distribution of captured items, and specific instructions on weapons.
