Scope and Contents Collection includes correspondence of Samuel Jackson (born 1764) of Providence Green, Yorkshire, England; of his brothers, Richard and James; and of his son, Samuel (born circa 1803). Also includes letters by Ann Pitchforth, sister-in-law of the latter Samuel Jackson, and by others, mostly members of the Jackson family. The correspondence relates primarily to family and business concerns. Several of the Richard Jackson letters were written from Staten Island, New York, between 1810 and 1827....

Scope and Contents Photocopies of handwritten letters addressed to family members. The items tell about the planned marriage between Taylor's daughter, Ida, and John Whitaker. John Taylor gives some advice to his daughter on the forthcoming marriage. One letter is addressed to John Whitaker and expresses Taylor's opinion about him.

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a handwritten and signed letter dated 1 Feb. 1845 and addressed to Daniel Webster of Boston, Massachusetts. The item was also signed by Willard Richards, William W. Phelps, John Taylor, and other prominent leaders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Young asks for legal advice concerning the repeal of the Nauvoo City charter by the Illinois state legislature.
