Photocopy of a typewritten biography of Abraham Day, III (1817-1900). Abraham Day was born in Vermont, joned the Mormon Church, moved to Montrose, Iowa near Nauvoo, Illinois, served in the Mormon Battalion 1846-1847, migrated to Utah, took a second wife, and lived in Springville and Mt. Pleasant, Utah, and served in the Black Hawk War. The date of the composition of this item is uncertain.

Typescripts of autobiographical materials. Day writes about her early life in Mt. Pleasant, about the defenses in the town during the Black Hawk War, and about her family. Also included is a biography by Day of her mother, Eliza Cusworth Burton Staker, who was a pioneer and an early settler in Mt. Pleasant.

David Coombs diaries and records of temple work

Handwritten diaries, financial records, and records of temple work performed for the Mormon Church. The items include an autobiography written by Coombs which covers his early years until 1884 when he started keeping a diary. He kept his journal from 1884 to 1928 with a gap from 1897 through 1899. Coombs relates his expriences while living in various communities in Sanpete and Cache Counties, Utah. Also included are patriarchal blessings of family members.

John T. Dorcheus memoirs

Handwritten autobiography, 75 pages of John Nicolai Thueson Dorcheus, who lived in Gunnison, Utah, and later in Ashton, Idaho, and participated in the Black Hawk War against the Ute Indians in Utah. Also included are typed copies of patriarchal blessings of Dorcheus family members. Dated 1911.

Photocopy of typescript. Author discusses his family's British roots; their acceptance of Mormonism while living in Birmingham, England, and their immigration to the United States. Tolton also describes his experiences during the Black Hawk War (Utah) and frontier life in Utah. His account goes into great detail about his involvement in territorial and state politics, his business ventures, family life, and his mission to Great Britain for the Mormon Church.

John Henry Hayes autobiography

Handwritten autobiography with a photocopy of the item. The item was written as an autobiography with yearly summaries of activities. Hayes migrated to Utah in 1862 and lived in Spanish Fork, Utah, during the Black Hawk War with the Ute Indians. Hayes was a Mormon polygamist, served on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England, and lived in numerous places and had numerous occupations in Utah.

Langston was born in England and migrated to the United States when he was 16 years old. He worked in the iron industry in several states and joined the Mormon Church. Langston migrated to Salt Lake City, Utah, and campaigned against the United States Army during the Utah Expedition of 1857-1858. He was also involved in the Black Hawk War. Seeley was born in Salt Lake City, Utah; moved to San Bernardino, California; saw human bones at the site of the Mountain Meadows Massacre on the way back to Utah; lived several places in Utah; stood guard during the Black Hawk War against the Ute Indians; and eventually settled in Castle Dale, Utah.
