Harris & Waters letter to Reed & Company
Handwritten and signed letter, dated July 18, 1859, and addressed to Reed & Co. The item was written in Oquawka, Henderson County, Illinois. Harris & Waters write about land titles, the loss of business due to the departure of the Mormons and the selfishness of the Icarian Community, and states that Nauvoo, Illinois, will soon exist no more.

Joshua Hawkes autobiography
Photocopy of a typescript. Hawkes was born in Missouri and lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, as a small child. He later came to Utah and lived in several places. He eventaully settled in Franklin, Idaho. He participated in the Walker War against the Ute Indians and also in the Utah War against the United States Army.

Historical sketch of James Hendricks and Drusilla Dorris Hendricks
Typewritten copy of an autobiography. Drusilla married James Hendricks (1808-1870) in 1827. They joined the Mormon Church in 1835 and lived with the Mormons in Clay County, Missouri and Nauvoo, Illinois. They migrated to Utah in 1847 where they lived in Salt Lake City, Springville, and Richmond.
History of the life of Thomas Ephraim Thornton
Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten biography. Thomas Ephraim Thornton was born in Canada in 1835. His family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1837. The family later moved to Nauvoo, Illinois. He migrated to Utah in 1852 and married Priscilla Covington in 1856. They had 11 children. He resided in American Fork, Utah, where he died in 1918.

Elias Hutchings autobiography
Handwritten autobiography and photocopies of the item. Hutchings was born in New Hampshire and lived later in Vermont, New York, Ohio, Iowa, and Illinois. He was baptized a member of the Mormon Church in 1830, participated in the "Zion's Camp" march of 1834, served on a mission to New York and Pennsylvania, and personally knew Joseph Smith (1805-1844), first president of the Mormon Church. Hutchings died in 1845 in Nauvoo, Illinois.
