Hyrum L. Andrus book drafts
Typewritten book drafts with handwritten corrections. One of the drafts is for Andrus' book "Doctrinal Commentary on the Pearl of Great Price" which was first published in 1960. The other draft is of his book "Joseph Smith: The Man and the Seer" which was first published in 1967. Andrus comments on the Mormon scripture, the Pearl of Great Price, and writes a biography of Joseph Smith, the first president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Circuit Court recognizance
Handwritten bond dated September 7, 1838, signed by Joseph Smith, Jr. and others before Judge Austin King of the 5th Judicial Circuit Court. The bond was for $500.00 and bound Joseph Smith, Jr. and Lyman Wight over to the court.
Leonora Harrington invitation
Photocopy of invitation addressed to Leonora Harrington to celebrate the eighty-second anniversary of birthday of John Taylor (1808-1887). The celebration was to be held 1 November 1890 at the old Homestead.
Legal proceedings on Brigham Young estate
Incomplete printed legal proceedings on the estate of Brigham Young, conducted in 1879 in the Utah Territory.
D. M. McAllister galley proofs
Galley proofs of an article by McAllister which was published in the September 1917 issue of the Improvement Era, A Mormon Church periodical. The article explains that Mormon temple ordinances are essential to salvation. The sheets bear holograph corrections and a note by Joseph F. Smith, the 6th president of the Mormon Church. Smith's note suggests that the article be published as a four page tract.
Arnold Auer Reiser diary entry
Photocopy of one page of a handwritten diary dated 4 Oct. 1899. Reiser writes that he gave instructions from Oliver B. Huntington concerning the location of the altar of the biblical character, Adam. Reiser also relates how the first president of the Mormon Church, Joseph Smith, received a seer stone.
