Icarian Community legal instruments
Handwritten "bill of exceptions" and a printed legal notice. The bill is dated Oct. 13, 1854 and regards the case of Warren vs. the Icarian Community. The notice, which is entitled "advertisement," is dated Dec. 25, 1852 and appeared in the Nauvoo Tribune published by the Icarian Autographic Establishment.

Two handwritten transcripts of court cases regarding the slandering of Joseph Smith (1805-1844), the Mormon prophet. The first item is dated Dec. 5, 1842 and involves the City of Nauvoo vs. Thomas J. Hunter. The second item is dated Feb. 17, 1843 and involves the City of Nauvoo vs. Amos Davis.
