Photocopy of a handwritten and signed note promising to pay John Hart the sum of five hundred and eighty three dollars and thirty three cents.
Pike in Colorado
Typewritten book draft with handwritten corrections. Also included is the blueline proof also with handwritten corrections. The draft is an account of Zebulon Pike's explorations in Colorado. The item was submitted to the Old Army Press for publication.
Zachary Taylor letter
Handwritten and signed letter dated December 1, 1848 and written in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was addressed to "Thes. Shute" of new Orleans. Taylor expresses regret that he must turn down the offer of Capt. Thompson to take passage to Louisville on the "Magnolia." Taylor was not sure at the time when he would be going North.
Moses Tennant letters and legal documents
Handwritten and signed personal papers and legal documents. Included are letters, powers of attorney, promissory notes, and a bill of sale. The letters describe Tennant's travels in the United States and the West Indies. The legal documents mostly deal with the payment and transfer of money between Tennant and Ephraim C. Davidson and were written in Indiana.
Bill Williams letter
Handwritten and signed letters each written on June 30, 1817 at Fort Osage and addressed to G. C. Sibley. These are receipts for services rendered and for goods received. One item acknowledges "services on interpretation of the Osage language."
