He describes the lands which he saw and gives his impression of Salt Lake City, Utah, and the Mormons he met there. Bronson also writes about his stay in San Francisco, California, including visits to various buildings and an opium den.

Handwritten and signed letters dated 28 Sept. 1854 and 27 May 1867. One item is from John H. Coon, in San Francisco, California, and tells about business matters and discusses mutual friends. The other letter is from George W. Converse, a resident of Idaho, and tells about mining, crops, food prices, and speculates about the possibility of an Indian war.
