Holograph copy in German of the Treaty of Passau (1552) and extracts from the Peace of Augsburg (1555). In 1552 the German Protestant leader, Maurice of Saxony, and the Catholic Emperor of Germany, Charles V, were at war. This was one of a number of civil wars over the issues of religion and politics in Germany during the sixteenth century. The Treaty of Passau was a truce in that war.
