A record of a company of emigrants
Handwritten records dated 1858 and 1859. These records include information of a company of emigrants from Nebraska City, Nebraska to Genoa, Utah and from Camp Floyd, Utah to Carson Valley, Nevada. Included are accounts of the travels, articles of incorporation, and notes on the meetings of the company. Also included are bound photocopies of the documents.
E. V. Rippingille letter
Typewritten letter dated 27 July 1920 and addressed to Fred Brown of Botterill Automobile Company in Salt Lake City, Utah. Rippingille tells Brown how long it would take him to travel by car from San Francisco, California, to Ely,Nevada. He also tells Brown how long it would take for him to drive to and from towns and places near Tooele and Salt Lake City, Utah.

The diaries contain notes and comments on business, descriptions of many journeys around the West and commentaries on the religious and social life of the period.
Azariah Smith diary
Photocopy of a handwritten diary. Smith writes of his early life until he started his diary in 1846. He tells about his experiences in the Mormon Battalion and the discovery of gold in California in 1848. Smith also writes about his coming to Utah and his life in Manti, Utah. He also relates incidents in the Black Hawk War when the whites fought the Ute Indians. There are many gaps.
Amos M. Thayer letter to Oscar B. Ireland
Handwritten and signed letter, dated April 23, 1867, and addressed to Oscar B. Ireland. Thayer writes about the gold rush to Montana in 1866. Also included is a letter from Appleton Sturgis dated 1866 which includes a pen-and-ink drawing of an American flag with 34 stars.
Trip on the Oregon cattle trail
Typewritten autobiographical account with handwritten corrections by and unknown author. The writer used his diary to help him remember what had happened. The autor writes about leaving Boston, Massachusetts, to go to Wyoming and drive cattle.
