Scope and Contents This collection consists of letters received by John Fisk from members of the Fisk family living in Minnesota and Montana. In the fall of 1866 John Fisk and three brothers led an expedition of several hundred people to Montana. He and his brothers bought a defunct newspaper and published on 15 Nov. 1866 the first issue of the "Helena Weekly Herald."
