The materials include two handwritten maps of eastern Mexico in 1850 made while Shrock was returning from the gold fields in California; a guarantee of safe conduct through Colorado in 1861 signed by William Gilpin, governor of Colorado; and a loyalty oath to the United States in 1861 signed by C. R. Jennison, Kansas Cavalry.
