Scope and Contents Materials include manuscripts of J. E. Broaddus's short stories. Some are works of fiction while others take the form of essays. In addition, some are written under the name of J. E. Broaddus, while others are written under his pen name, Will Hail. The short stories "Trail of Glory" and "Glory Trail" are early versions of the beginning of the longer work "Intolerance." The folder contains a printed, undated letter. Internal evidence suggests that the item was written sometime in the 1870s. Staines gives the prices and conditions for travelling from New York City to Ogden, Utah.

William Wilson Sterrett journal

Scope and Contents

Handwritten journal accompanied by its photocopy, along with Simeon R. Sterrett's typewritten missionary blessing and its photocopy. The journal describes W. W. Sterrett's mission, how an Indian chief, Black Pine, saved his life, and also contains his family's genealogy, a record of temple ordinances, and copies of patriarchal blessings.

Materials include Gilbert W. States's manuscript "Uncompahgre Trail." It tells a story of a family moving west in the 1800s and is based on his family history. Materials dated approximately 1900-1945.

Biographical sketch of the life of Samuel Wagstaff

Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten biography. Samuel Wagstaff was born in 1820 in England, married Lucy Webb in 1840, and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1849. He migrated to Utah in 1862 and settled in American Fork. Samuel went to prison for polygamy in 1888 and died in 1897. The title page of the item states, "by Ada W. Barratt." At the end of the biography is written, "Sketch written by Bertha N. Sager."

Photocopies of biographies, genealogies, patriarchal blessings, certificiates, and portraits. Many of the items relate to Mildred Elizabeth Allred (1898-1980), her family and ancestors. Also included are biographies of various members of the Allred family covering many aspects of early Mormon history. Most of these materials are unreliable family stories. Many of these people lived in Sanpete County, Utah.
