Scope and Contents

Transcript of an interview conducted by Kelly J. Drake on 6 Aug. 1985 for the Ray Hillam military history project. Drake was in the United States Marine Corps starting in 1936 and later went into the United States Army in 1940. He served in North Africa for nine months and served in Sicily in 1943 with the ordinance section of the Seventh Army. He was later deployed to Germany in 1945 and met Russian troops on the Elbe River. Drake was sent home in July of 1945.

Wallet containing miscellaneous receipts, business cards, bank notes, etc. Letter from Polly Hanslew (from wallet) on genealogy. Mission journal, approximately 200 pages, all written on. Journal kept while Taylor was serving in prison for "cohabitation." 10 x 14 cm. Approximately 150 pages, with about 60 written on.

John Walters letters

Handwritten letters. Walters writes to relatives about various family matters. He tells of the deaths and illnesses of many persons. Walters may have been a member of the Mormon Church because he once said, "and I hope to meet you in Zion."
