Photocopies of typescript of an unpublished article. The item is a biography of Jane Elizabeth James (1820?-1908) which also presents information on the blacks in early Utah. Jane, a black, was converted to the Mormon Church and lived in Nauvoo, Illinois, and later emigrated to Salt Lake City, Utah. She was active in the Mormon Church and was married twice. The author has also included typescripts of documents relating to Jane's life.

Testimony of Lizzie McKenzie, Dundee

Scope and Contents

Typewritten biography of Margaret Campbell Wilson (1860-1924) by McKenzie which also tells about the Mormon Church in Scotland. Margaret was able to stay true to her Mormon faith despite many obstacles including the disapproval of her husband, William Wilson.

Printer's proofs, a rough draft, and newsletters. These include a printer's proof of "Tiger Jack" and a photocopy of printer's proofs with handwritten corrections superimposed on each. Also included is a typewritten rough draft of "Division Commander: Study of a leader, 'P' Wood and the 4th Armored Division," and newsletters (1973-1974) describing the history of the division during World War II.

A true pioneer story

Typewritten biography with handwritten notations. The item is a biography of Mary Barker Virgin. Mary Virgin was married to George Thompson Virgin in 1852 in England. The couple, joined the Mormon Church, had four children, and Mary migrated with the Mormons to Utah and later to Idaho after George's death. Mary settled in Paris, Idaho where she died at age 92.
