Moses Thatcher diaries

Handwritten diaries. The materials cover the years 1866 to 1868, 1878 to 1881, and 1883 to 1884. Thatcher writes about his missionary activities Great Britain for the Mormon Church and to the Crow and Shoshoni Indians. He also tells of his life in Logan, Utah.

Scope and Contents This collection consists of two diaries and their photocopies and biographies of 16 Tonks family members. The members of the Tonks family belonged to the Mormon Church and lived in Utah and Idaho. The diary of Warren Tonks covers from 2 Jan. 1921 to 25 Feb. 1923 when the author was a missionary for the Mormon Church in New Zealand. Scope and Contents note

Wallet containing miscellaneous receipts, business cards, bank notes, etc. Letter from Polly Hanslew (from wallet) on genealogy. Mission journal, approximately 200 pages, all written on. Journal kept while Taylor was serving in prison for "cohabitation." 10 x 14 cm. Approximately 150 pages, with about 60 written on.

Daniel Edward Williams diary and autobiography

Scope and Contents

Handwritten autobiography and diary with photocopies of the item. The account of Williams' early life was written from notes and from his memory in 1852. Williams, a native of Penally, Pembroke, South Wales, was converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the 1840s. He served on a mission in Wales for that faith from 1846 to 1852.

John Stillman Woodbury diaries

Scope and Contents

Handwritten diaries for the years 1851, 1853 to 1855, 1857, and 1876 to 1877. These are all missionary journals kept on various missions for the Mormon Church to Hawaii. Woodbury comments on visits from Mormon Church Apostles and writes about leaving Utah for Hawaii during the Mormon "Reformation" in 1857 and being called to return to face the approach of the U.S. Army.

Alexander Walter Wright diaries

Handwritten diaries written by Alexander Wright and his wife, Emma Elizabeth Reeve Wright. These journals were kept while the couple was on a Mormon mission in New Zealand. Two of the diaries were kept by Alexander and three were kept by Emma.

Feramorz L. Young diary

Scope and Contents

Handwritten and bound diary. Young talks about his journey to Mexico and his cultural and religious experiences there while serving there. Young became ill on his mission and died at sea on his way back to Utah. He was buried at sea off the coast of Florida.

The diaries were kept while Young was serving as a missionary for the Mormon Church in Switzerland.
