Handwritten letters and reports. Forty-four of the items deal with Baxter's activities during the Civil War. Many of them were written by Baxter and by other participants. They deal with a wide range of military matters including the Battle of Gettysburg in 1863 and the Battle of the Wilderness in 1864. Also included is official and family correspondence kept while Baxter was in Honduras.

Consists of three separate manuscripts: "Religious Experiences of Thomas Walter Brookbank," "Travels and Threads of Experience," and "A Soldier's Recollections." These autobiographies recount the author's early life and conversion to Mormonism, his experiences in the Civil War (1861-1865), life in Utah and the Mormon settlements in eastern Arizona, and missionary activities in New Mexico, Texas, Mexico, and Great Britain.

One bound volume and one loose volume of autobiographical notes, poems, and scrapbook materials along with photocopies of the collection. Coffey served in a Pennsylvania regiment of the Union Army during the American Civil War (1861-1865). He participated in a large number of campaigns and gives detailed accounts of army life. There are also printed copies of many of the poems Coffey was able to publish.

Handwritten letters. Six of the items were written by John Fisher, while three were written by his brother, Theodore. John and Theodore tell about their experiences in the Army of the Potomac.

The materials relate activities in the gold fields of California and also tell about activities during the Civil War. Also included is a printed poem about the Battle of the Wilderness in 1864.

Also included are letters from Alfred Hall, Frank's brother, to their mother. Alfred also writes about family matters and about his service with the Union Army during the American Civil War.
