Hayden, the appointed geologist in charge of the U.S. geological and geographical survey of the territories, as the culmination of a federally funded survey expedition. The scrapbook contains 258 albumen silver prints taken by William Henry Jackson of landmarks in and around what is known now as Yellowstone National Park.
