Scope and Contents

Collection contains diaries, ephemera, and patriarchal blessings produced by Oliver Boardman Huntington and his son, Oliver B. Huntington. Items document the early history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Latter-day Saint exodus to the West, and the establishment and early development of Utah. Materials date from between 1843 and 1932.

Transcriptions of most items also available.

Scope and Contents Photocopies of handwritten and signed letters. Three of the items are letters of introduction by the second president of the Mormon Church, Brigham Young. Another letter is from Brigham Young asking William Huntington for his aid in bringing Clarissa A. Scofield to Mormon Church headquarters. Contains records of patriarchal blessings, newspaper clippings, and other ephemeral items written or gathered by Oliver B. Huntington. Some of these items were originally found in the diaries of Huntington's father, Oliver Boardman Huntington.

Scope and Contents

Contains diaries written by Huntington between 1843 and 1907. Includes descriptions of his early life, his life as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, his service as a Mormon missionary in England, and his life as an early pioneer in Utah. Diaries also include reminiscent accounts of early Church history written by Huntington later in life. There are many gaps in the record.
