Scope and Contents Includes 35 literary manuscripts of published and unpublished Western romances and sports writings. The bulk of the items are first draft pencil holographs written on one side of legal sized paper. Of those in print their publication dates range from 1912 to 1963. Contains materials concerning Grey's life and death and his personal relationships with friends and family. These materials include autographs, correspondence with his wife, Lina Grey, and son, Romer, journals, itineraries, and other materials documenting his fishing expeditions and writing trips, and biographical histories written about him both during and after his life dating from approximately 1900 to 1976.

This subseries contains photographs documenting camping expeditions and trips in the American West and abroad. It contains photographs of Zane Grey hunting lions and bears, at Betatakin, the Glass Mountains, Death Valley, Rainbow Bridge, the Grand Canyon, and various other locations in Utah, Arizona, Idaho, and California. It also contains photographs at Winkle Bar, the Tonto Basin, Rogue River, Bateman's Bay in Australia, and others dating from approximately 1890 to 1940.
