Typed autobiography. Laura Ellen Alley was born in 1923 in Bancroft, Idaho. She served as a nurse in the McCaw General Hospital in Walla Walla, Washington, at the end of World War II.

Materials contain a chapter of Alma Heaton's memoir entitled "Army Experiences", as well as two cassette tapes in which Heaton is interviewed by Don Norton. In the memoir, Heaton talks about being deferred from the draft because his father was dead and later volunteering for the Army. Also describes training in California and North Carolina, and marrying his wife during his first furlough. Dated approximately 2001.

File contains materials relating to the service of Alma R. Dunford in the U.S. Army’s 99th Ordnance Bomb Disposal Squadron during World War II. Materials include a memoir, photocopies of military documents, and a typewritten letter. Materials include accounts of Alma R. Dunford's service in Okinawa, Japan. Dunford relates his experience disposing of a truckload of munitions when several tons of ordnance exploded, killing over twenty-five soldiers and civilians. Dated 1945.
