Scope and Contents note Report by Jeane Woolfanden, who collected information from Janice Jensen. Near the abandoned airport is a blue light with life-like qualities. It can be seen if you turn the lights off while driving westward on the dirt road.

Several origin legends for the lights appearing in the Brown Mountain area are given, two involving a man searching for either his missing family or the ones who killed them, one involving a decapitated slave who is searching for his head.

Lights seen moving through the mountians are attributed to the ghost of a negro slave who is searching for evidence of his master's death so that he can inherit his master's property.

Scope and Contents note Report by Utah State University folklore student Mark Nielson, who collected information from Arlene Brown. A family is camping out one night when something hits the side of their trailer, causing it to rock back and forth several times. They can hear the sound of scratching along the outside of the trailer. In the morning they go outside and see long gouges on the side of their camper, but are unable to find any kind of tracks.

A parked couple sees something white emerge from the creek next to their car, hover across the road in front of them, and the climb the hill next to the girl's home. The couple go up to her house and hear a scream from outside.

Scope and Contents note Report by Carole Lou Ice. A woman is buried with all her jewelry on. The night after the ceremony, her body is exhumed by graverobbers who cut off her fingers in order to take her rings. After the robbers have left, her blood starts circulating again and she walks home.

Scope and Contents note Report by Brigham Young University folklore student Ginger DeRusha, who collected information from Stephanie Coltrin. A child is afraid to go down into the cellar, so his mother calls her pediatrician to ask for advice. He recommends that she lock the boy in the cellar until he overcomes his fear. After reconsidering the matter, the pediatrician goes over to the boy's house to recommend letting him out. When the mother opens the cellar door, all they can find of the boy is his hand clinging to...
