Raynor collected legends from the people in the rancho of Comderito while she taught in a three-month literacy program. Includes methods of planting corn, sayings that have religious implications, and legends from the area. Included are descriptions of Manassa in 1920, the wealthiest man in Manassa buying himself a Model-T Ford, and the famous fighter Jack Dempsey ("The Manassa Mauler").
