H. Heiman letter
Handwritten letter dated 26 Dec. 1850. The item was written in Legards Bar, California and was addressed to D. M. Woodin in Lapeer, Michigan. Heiman writes about life at the gold mines. He states that working in the mines is for people willing to "work hard and live like a dog."

Photocopy of a typewritten history of local union 55 of the International Union of Mine, Mill, and Smelter Workers. This union was organized for the workers at the Tooele lead smelter in 1933.

Four handwritten and signed letters relating to the business of mining in Utah. The items place particular emphasis on the work of mining engineer J.E. Clayton.
Horn Silver Mining Company records
Handwritten "time books" and surveying records. The "time books" list names and duties of various employees. The surveying records or "field books" contain maps of mine shafts and details on their construction. They also list the amount of ore removed.

Diaries, field notes, correspondence, and maps. Gorlinski worked primarily in Utah and many of the materials relate to his activities in and around Park City, Utah. He was also associated with projects in other places in Utah and in sites in Nevada, California, and Idaho. The diaries cover the years 1909 to 1955 when Gorlinski was living in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Tax papers (1904-1947), company correspondence (1909-1947), financial records including incoming statements and bank statements (1914-1929), financial papers for individual companies (1907-1953), mining bulletins (1926-1928), and over 200 maps and plans. The materials relate to the operations of the company and to the corporations in which it invested. Most of these companies were involved either in mining or in railroads.
J. M. Boutwell financial papers, approximately 1885-1969
Contains financial papers and materials of both J. M. Boutwell himself as well as his family and mining companies he consulted with. Includes checkbooks and stubs, stock notes, stock dividend records, bank statements, bills and receipts, other stock information, and taxes. Some small amout of financial materials are mixed in with other series, but these are those that seem to have been organized and kept separate. ca. 1885-1969
